Well, with Isabel off to Canada, I finally got cable again. Anyway, last night there was a cool show on the FL channel titled, The History of Land Rover This informative program was hosted by Bill Baker; who has been a topic of conversation more than once here. The program talked about the debut of Land Rover in 1948 at an auto show that was aimed directly at Jeep. Since steel was hard to obtain in war torn England, Aluminium was used for the skins. At one time, there were 137 different versions of the Series era of vehicles that could be ordered from LR direct. A truely interesting fact was about the transition from the Series I to the II. Apparently the wife of the designer always tore her stockings on the door sill when embarking or disembarking from the Series I. So more friendlier design engineering took place on the Series II. The most interesting piece of trivia I received from the show, was that regarding the Camel Trophy. The CT debuted in 1980 and guess what the first vehicle used was..........Nope not a Rover. It was a jeep. However, every year after up to 1998, a different type of Rover was used. I thought it was a cool show and this is Dweb  Paul Morgan | ||

I'll do that. Maybe the WT Network can fit it in between episodes of "The Jerry Springer Show" and "Cooking with Mayonnaise". | ||

I have the dish network, so I don't think I get that channel. Any other channels maybe? |
