i'm pricing new tires and 255/85 is same price as 265/75 (what i currently run) i'm mainly wondering how the turning Rad is. with 265/75 it kind of sucks and the 255/85 is taller so it will be more likely to hit the rad arm. on the other hand maybe since it is not as wide it will make up the difference and be no worse than the 265/75 i have 3 " lift and 265/75 clears the fenders very easilyRSVP RSVP |

I can do a good Austin Powers impression, but 255/85, I'm no longer that flexible.

so if the turning radius is worse than what you have now... what's your hurry... add another point in your turn... i'd stick w/ 235/85's for the rangie... 3" lift 235/85's... nice set up. which tires are you looking at? steve, i gotta see that austin powers impression next time i c you... LOL |

Never thought about the diameter reducing the turning radius until now. Just assumed it was the width that fouled the radius arms. I would be real concerned about the larger dia tire hitting the fenders. 255 is really a better width for a 7" wide wheel than 265mm. |

han i am going to have to settle for cheap tires for the winter because the season is comming and i wont have saved enough for the 7.5XZL i want. quality bald tires are just not as good as new cheap tires in the snow. probably do a cooper or something like that for $95 each all terrrain pattern. http://coopertires.com/us/en/ProductDetails.asp?ProdType=LtTruck&id=174 rd |

LOL... so what's the story w/ XZL's. i thought they stopped production on those suckers. looking at the european sites, i only see 8.25 or 9.0 avail from michelin sites. i gave up on my quest for XZL's... i'll just sit comfortably and wait. |

han, that might be the case now. since i dont have the money in hand i haven't searched the world over for them. if there are none anywhere i 'll source some surplus XL's from canada in that size. i just want something bad ass that says michelin on the side, for my ego. |

How could I forget!? BTW- The number 13 is bad luck. You'd be better off with 8! I can find a use for 5 of them... |

255 85 16 will rub quite frequently on a rangie with only 3 inch lift. There is rangie in denver that runs this size tire. He has 3 inch springs and 2 inch spacers all the way around. Just an fyi. Ali |

Rob, I have 265/75 Swampers on mine - they rub if you dont turn out the stops some. Not going to be a big diff from what you have now, but you'll loose a bit of turning radius - no big deal. Let me know if you want some stats |

Yeah, but Ive run several types of tires before and after the cutting - there's really 2 parts to it as far as Im concerned: rubbing on wheel wells - articulation rubbing on radius arms - turning - so its just give and take for how big of a tire you want. You know I love rocks, so the bigger the better in my book! I just cant afford to try all the rubber I would like to...1k/pop |

I've thought about an offset design quite a bit. Has anyone looked at the front rad arms on the second generation RR? The arms look simular the the RRC arms, except they are bent at an angle which would give more tire clearance. Randall |

Ali, I run 3" springs and only 1" spacer up front w/ a 2" spacer in the rear.... And I run 35's! Put the 255/85's on and never look back. Larry |
