Radiator

Author Message   Brian (Bthaxton) New Member Username: Bthaxton Post Number: 36 Registered: 02-2003 Posted on Thursday, September 25, 2003 - 10:18 am:    I want to replace the plastic radiator cap on my '97 D1 (102K mi) with a brass fitting. I do not want to remove the cap that is there now, break it off, and risk a horror story like I have seen posted on this board sometimes. I have been lucky so far. Does anyone know the size (i.e., 1", 1 1/8", 28MM, etc) and the thread count? I know that these brass replacements can be ordered easily, but I would like to try to be creative and find my own version. If someone could simply give me the specs and/or their experiences, I would greatly appreciate it. Does anyone know this? (2) If I cannot find a suitable replacement, where is the best place to order a brass cap replacement? I used plenty of RTV type gunk and it held up fine for a week. Hope this helps.
