Did you have it in low range?

Check you Transmission Fluid, see if it smells burnt.

:-) was it in gear? :-)

sounds like you've got the transfer case in high gear when you should have it in low.

peruse the owner's manual.

CDL may have slipped into neutral. Was there a high pitched, electronic tone when this happened?

Tires don't turn is good. Now the wheels not turning is a different story. ;-)

Sounds like the truck was in nuetral. Did you feel any power to the wheels whatsoever?

Yup.. sounds like neutral in transfer.
Mine does have funky character - it does like to be "convinced" from time to time. I.e when you think you shifted it to L or H , it still will seat in N actually, so i am normally do shift, then let pedals go a bit, then do "convincing" - push in correct direction again.

Its actually described in manual, if i am not mistaken, as part of design. Except they do suggest to shift N-D-N to let gears rotate a wee bit and then do transfer shift again, if transfer feels like not shifting.

nope, I'll bet a sixer that he's trying to get over an obstacle or up an incline from a dead stop in high gear when he needs to be in low.

But then wouldn't you feel some force? I think I would. Usually I would equate this force to wheels moving. Plus he says that it was not always like this.

I need more information to "guess" what is going on, but you could be right.

So where could we meet to hand off the sixer?

well, if you're at a dead stop and then try to nudge over an obstacle or up a steep incline while you're in "grocery store gear", you're probably goin nowhere (the tires ain't turnin). These dogs only have a 244 cu inch V8 in them. Hell, try nosing the front tires to a curb and then hopping over it in high gear...good luck.

We need monkey boy to check his thread and enlighten the masses...

hey guys...
thanks for the input.... Yeah i guess that she must of been in to of a gear...But even when I am driving in sand. Not even deep sand. And I stop. She seems to have a problem, it didnt do this before. I give it gas and she revs right up but the tires wont turn over. They start to move but dont. I am having troubles with the cdl anyhow... She is very hard to move and wont lock for some reason....Maybe I have been using it wrong i dunno... But when I wanna lock it, I push it up and over...Is that not right?
Thanks
Sean

Forward and to the left would be CDL in Low range, if it is working correctly.

Just left would be CDL in High Range.

If it is hard to move left, then it may not be getting in.

You may be partially in Low range, and when you give it gas, it pops out into neutral.

Just a thought......Might just need to clean and lube the shifter.

Could also be the trans - ZF auto or clutch slipping. When my ZF went south, it did the same thing in a very inopportune spot - lots of revs and no motion regardless of low range.
