neighbor down the road has a silver 89 RR for sale with 99K on the odometer and a price of $2500.00. The car has the headliner falling into the center of hte car and a few small pieces missing - bumper end cap and some other stuff. What else do I need to take a look at or watch out for if I take a look at this car. Looking for a second vehicle - grocery getter kind of transporation. |

Look at the third member. Its the self leveling strut attached to the rear axle. They are somewhat expensive to replace if blown. Look for rust in the footwells and rear tailgate. Look at the rear hatch as well as they are prone to rust. I have an 89 which is 100% original (I'm talking original shocks, springs, third member everything) and I'm just now starting to replace the necessary worn equipment. As with all Land Rover check the chassis for rust, especially the outriggers (the cross members of the chassis) just look at the overall condition of the underside as this will be the most worn of all. Hope it works out for you I love mine. Good Luck!! |

Was in the same position last year. Look for the above, then drive it and see how she feels. Check the transmission shifts smooth and the vsc works. Also look under the passenger seat at the read out when running and see if any codes are tripped (easy to remove check engine light). Bottom line is if you want to spend a little to drive daily possible. If you want an offroad rig you will spend dearly overtime no matter what you buy so just buy cheap in the begininng. Good luck |

I used to have an 89 RRC. We took it to the dealer because we had to keep adding oil. He said there was oil residue present on the spark plugs. Which off course meant that it needed new rings and etc... I would consider that too. Matt |
