Okay, so after some help from others, I decided to mount my Hella 500's to the factory front bumper near the center, with my 530's mounted outside of them on the bumper. Everything went well until I opened the little baggies with the wires. :-)

I want to tap the 500's into the high beam for power (i.e., no switch inside the truck), but cannot for the life of me figure out which of the wires is the positive for the high beam. Can anyone help with that? I'm apparently not able to make sense of the wiring diagram in the workshop manual.

I want to make the 530's operate independently of other lights. Do I then just run that yellow wire from the relay to the switch inside the truck?

Also, the instructions show blue ground wires. Where on earth (no pun intended) do people ground inside the engine compartment? I can't seem to find anything that's actually bare metal in there. And, with both sets of lights there is only one lead coming out of the bulb (wire with male connector). How do I ground the lights themselves as illustrated so well in the instructions?

I feel like an idiot not being able to get this to work but I don't want to mess it up...

Thanks,

Andy

I forgot to add, I looked in the archives and everything there I found was "tap into the highbeam" -- I want to know which wire it is, and specifically where/how to ground! :-)

Not sure of the color myself, but just get a multimeter or a test light and check with headlights on.
