91 3.9. When I run the ac my truck starts to overheat after about 20 minutes. Never happens any other time! Replaced the r12 with the new stuff about 6 weeks ago. The r12 leaked out about a year ago so the ac was not used untill recently. AC worked fine 2 weeks ago. AC compressor gone bad? Any other idea's? Will look into it in the morning. Need to get this fixed before MAR!!!!!

had the same thing in my '93 RR. replaced the radiator and no problems since. if its the OEM radiator and your's is a '91, you're probably due for a new one anyhow.

I will look(or listen) for your truck at MAR. Will probably camp on the island with CROC.

You should check the fan belt to see if it is loose. The A/C belt is driven by the water pump, so there is a small chance that it is belt related. However I would lean towards radiator corrosion as the cure.

If you completely remove the thermostat the cooling system will be much more efficent at transfering heat; because there will me no restriction to the flow. You can continue to diagnose after MAR.

pretty sure you'll notice a big difference. while you're in there, might want to pop in a new thermostat. from past experience which was bad, only use the LR ts. its cheap and is the better design than one from another GM engine.
