sorry bout posting in the incorrect list...

i was just shocked when i saw this auction...

yeah... i think the $53,900 price tag is a little.. "out there". but what do i know im just a humble poor boy. must be nice to have enought money to even consider bidding $54K on a 6yr old off road rig

no Ken, you're right on with the general section in my opinion. I think Bruce just thought that you were the one selling.

that #300/300 D90 is sweet. would be a nice investment to properly store in drydock for a good long while.

Very nice. $54K for that 90 or $54K for an H2. For me the decision is easy. :-)

Actually this thread was originally in the Discovery tech section and I moved it here, thus the earlier posts about posting in the wrong section.

while impressive, I'd buy Mike Smith's ECR4 D90 instead for about the same money. guess it depends what you want it for. garage art or actual use.

If your a business owner, you could buy it under the company pay no tax and write off the full amount of the truck in the first year. I think......

If Land Rover is watching it I hope they see just how much money they could be making by brining back the Defender. I know that not everyone is willing to spend 54k on a new one but it shows there is a good demand for new Defenders in the US.

$58k for ECR's D90? Damn, that's a perfect example of "I've put all this money into my car, so it must be worth the sum of all the parts." While it is certainly a nice, one-of-a-kind off-roading rig, it's really just another built-up custom beast. Built-up custom beasts are worth a mint...to the guy who built them up. I can't believe they went so far with it and now they're trying to sell it off.

In northern Africa I met a rich Senator's son who had paid big money for a Jeep Wrangler. He proudly unveiled it for me, expecting me to fawn over it like all his African friends. "The best of the best," he kept saying. "The best of the best." I almost laughed out loud. I didn't have the heart to tell him the Wrangler is a pretty vanilla flavor, over here.

Seems to me it's the reciprocal with the Defender. Somewhere overseas, somebody is stifling a snicker.

Who ever it is that is current low bidder has bought at least 2 other high dollar rovers in the past, one of which was a d90 according to their prior comments.

I guarantee the individual that buys that truck off ebay, will resell it for that much...

Some people seem to forget their are collectors out there and they will be all over this truck. Cost won't matter. What will is the condition mileage and the fact that it's the last one off the boat.

I ment to say$5,400. Yeah I would pay 5k for a new 90, that seems fair.

A friend of mine was given one of those for a wedding gift - yes, the family he married into was filthy rich. He didn't like it much, I guess he is more of a BMW type of little car guy. BUT before he traded his father-in-law for a 2000 DII with all factory mods, he did let me dive it a few times. (Actually, part of the reason he didn't like it is that he hated having that $ amount hanging over his head from his father-in-law, and I don't blame him.)

I think I remember this vehicle on eBay a couple years ago... I think they wanted over $100k back then if I remember right.
