Light clunking noise. 96 Disco I, 109K miles I started hearing a light clunking noise. I can only hear it at low speed with the windows down. I checked the obvious things, cats, looked for lose things but I can not find its origin. I believe it comes from the driver side. Any suggestions? I recently installed heavy duty GBR half shafts are Detroit lockers in the rear. |

I have a '97 D1 (102K miles), and I have had (what I think) is the same clunk for about two years now. It happens when I accelerate, go slowly over a speed bump, or do anything that puts tension on the suspension. Since I am keeping my Rover until it dies, I will probably replace the bushings in my Pahhard Rod, Radius Arms, possibly Trailing Arms, and possibly the stabilizer links. If these items do not cure the clunk, at least it will firm up the suspension. |

Brian, is your suspension stock? If so, it could be the front shock bushings. Not the one that is visible, but the one under the shock cone thingy. Mine were melted and looked like laffy taffy. After changing these, the noises you described were gone. Good luck - Mark |
