Ive been tracing a slight missfire from time to time.
Replaced plugs, rotor, cap and leads.
Made no difference.
Rechecked plugs after a run and they were all sooty on one side, white on the other.
I am assuming this means either they are all dripping fuel or mixture too rich.
Is mixture manually set (no cats) or temp controlled?/

Any ideas welcomed

No Cats, then I take it the Disco is not a NAS version. If NAS and no cats that is the problem.

If non-NAS then I believe it is controlled by the ECU.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry Australian delivery 1998 Series 1.

Maybe a temp sensor or thermostat not hot enough??

If it is just one bank, then that would have me thinking something that is electronic. Temp sensor or thermostat would be both banks....wouldn't it?

Replace the O2 sensor on the offending side, or if you are cheap, swap them and see if the problem moves.

The water temp sensor (cheap/easy to change) tells the ECU that the engine is in warm up or not, so could be the culprit. Sounds like o2 sensors.

The '97 Aussie version we had didn't run cleanly to begin with. No emission controls and low compression export v-8. Yours may need a good hot run to blow out carbon (especially if possibly accumulated on exhaust valves) if you do mainly city driving.

Mine was doing that, turned out to be the coils were going bad on 2 cylinders. We tried plugs, no difference, mine mainly did it under load, so I was thinking fuel pump, but that wasn't it either finaly was the coils.
