I am thinking about getting ARB lockers, and was wandering if anyone actually installed them without help from professional garage. I would imagine that getting all the plumbing done isnt big of a deal, its just routing for hooses after all.. But what about installation of locker itself, and reset of ring and pinion? I am kind of looking on way to save meself some money to get second locker |

Sergei, You can check here.... http://www.discoweb.org/arbinstall/index.htm and here http://www.d-90.com/tech/arb.html Depending on how many tools at your disposal and your technical know-how, I don't see why not. |

I out in my own TT and Detroit. I did not know the directions existed on D-90.com, but that is basically what i did, minus the air hoses. it took about 10 hrs each, doing it by myself, with a craftsman mechanics set from sears. for the reset of the r & p i tried to match how it was before, tight, but not too tigh with good contact area. It is a fairly straight foward installation. Once you get everything apart you wil lbe able to see where it goes and how to get it in there and back together. hope that helps. if your in jersey and need some help e-mail me. -Rick |

Sergei, After you make your first hole in the diff, life will get much easier! Since the ring gear is being moved to a new carrier from ARB, chances are your tooth pattern will be fine w/o too much fuss. However, do use some sort of a marking grease like Prussian blue or white grease to take mental or digital picture of the contact pattern before tearing everything apart! This is also a great time to replace your carrier bearings with new ones. Here're the Timken p/ns: Bearing race LM501310, Cone LM501349. They're pretty inexpensive. If you're uncomfortable with setting the lash, you can always take the 3rd members to a professional and they'll check it for you for an hour shop time or whatever. Good luck. Ali '91RRC |

If you need experienced help out *near* you, you might want to contact Bill Burke up in Fruita. I know he sells the ARB, but am not 100% sure that he will help you with the installation, but it might be worth a shot. Likely he would know proper routing for hoses and such as well, since you will want to take care during this part. He has been runnign dual ARB on RR, Disco, D90 for years. |
