What vehicle?

Just off the top of my head from some experience and what I know about 3" or more lift.

- Springs
- Long travel shocks or shock extensions or drop kit
- Front DC drive shaft
- Rear non roto drive shaft
- Offset front radius arms
- Offset rear trailing links
- Some people say TT front diff will help wandering issues due to loss of caster. This fixes symptom, not caster problem. or you could have swivel balls caster corrected. D2 handles loss of caster better than D1 (or so I have heard).

To name a few.

Drop me an email if you are interested in some used 3" RTE springs for D1.

No prob!

Since you have a D2, life is a bit better. They deal with lift a bit better than D1 or so I have heard. What this means is that they do not vibe as much with lift and they do not have as much problems due to loss of caster.

Judging by some of the results of driving lifted vehicles for any length of time, you will be much better off with beefy drive shafts front and rear. When the front one goes, if you are at highway speeds, you will tear up your vehicle, possibly anything it hits will be toast including transmission (very costly repair). Typically they also help with vibes if you get them. On my D1, I did rear DS since I was tearing up the rotoflex, this does not apply to the D2 since they do not have the rear rotoflex, but D2 *could* still get vibes on the rear DS. I did the front DS due to vibes and the reasons above, that also applies to the D2 (IMHO).

There are quite a few people out there with D2 and 3"+ lifts, hopefully some will chime in. This topic is also pretty common so do a bit of searching and look in the tech section and gallery.

This is one of my favorie looking D2 and he has a great list of gear too. See some of his threads in the general area to see pics with 35's.

This is by far my favorite D1

I'll look for the email.

Chris,

FWIW here are a few things I ran into when adding a 3" Rovertym lift with Rancho shocks to my 2001 DII.

1. The front drive shaft will contact the cross member that sits under the cats.

2. You will need longer brake lines

3. Your ABS lines will need to be extended

I did not experience any vibrations with the stock roto flex.

I've had RTE 2,3,4,5 inch lift. Never touched a cross member with my FR DC Driveshaft. Did get vibes in the rear with a Roto.

James,

You have 1995 Discovery right?

We are talking about a DII here

1999 - 2003 Discovery series II's have an additional/different cross member than the older Discoveries.

Heck even OME lift kit offers a spacer to drop the cross member on a DII and the OME lift is only @ 2" of lift.

can you eliminate the cross member or would adding spacers to it be totally useless??

"can you eliminate the cross member"
I would not remove it, but others have.

"would adding spacers to it be totally useless?"
I added spacers, the drive shaft clears the cross member and sits higher than the axles so it is not the lowest point on the DII.

Additionally if you send Rovertym your cross member they will relocate it for you for a fee.
