is it possible to disconnect the vss wires till the new one arives because truck runs fine when speedo quits all together but when it works then it starts hestitating and jumping idile if the speedo quits doesn't that mean the vss isn't working at all and pulling the wires for a short time 1 day maybe would be ok

i am serious about this the speedo quits and the damn truck runs like a dream speedo starts and all hell breaks loose can't get over 25 mph without cutting out or is the vss still doing something else even when the speedo quits

How about trying it and letting us know? Typically VSS is only used for input to speedometer and cruise control. Sometimes they are used by the PCM when off throttle to control more complete burn of fuel during engine braking.

In my experience it'll run better off than broke.

Mine went out while out of town over Christmas and I didn't get one unitl after the new year. I would stall on occasion going from high speed to stop, like on an off ramp.

Hope that helps,

Eric
