Jamie,
Can we assume that you have the truck back from the LR shop? Any pics for the Dwebbers anxiously (is that spelled right?) following your story?

The DI application is the same from the RRC...the D2 is strictly a stand alone item and therefore more expensive.

Yes Greg, I think there was a topic on this a while back. Search around, "D2 elephant install for D1"

How about putting them on any other vehicle (i.e. H2, freelander, 05 discovery, Jeep, etc..) would that make one a D2 wanta be?

H2! JEEP! HAHA. The elephant is strictly and LR modification. You can try to put one on a jeep or H2, but I just don't see how it would work.

(I must be really bored today:-)

I had my snorkle pointing foward for about a year, but this weekend i had a couple big splashes go in and stall out my enging. I had almost an inch of water under my air cleaner. I then turned the intake around, as pictured above and had no more problems. The mantecs point backwards also.

Big splashes and rain, nothing....The bugs in the air filter are the reason I turned mine backwards. I had, literally, 6-10 large bugs, along with many many smaller ones in the intake box per month. Unless you get a pre-cleaner, turn it backwards, IMO

Cheers

Sorry for the slow response -- I have found that I get MUCH MORE WORK DONE if I leave my computer turned off!! :-) :-)

The elephants went up there just for pic -- I was tired, needed to amuse myself with a diversion, and had already applied all my new stickers. Thankfully, I remembered to take the elephants down the next am before driving. They are safe and sound on my desk now.

Yes, rover is home. Have been working on it nonstop all weekend doing the things that I have the skills to do and figure out myself. Mike Bauer came by and looked it over for potential troubles on Saturday. He found a few, so I spent yesterday fixing those things (washers added to recessed bolts at bottom of plywood flooring, washers and locking nuts added to maglite clips, got all tha little stuff done).

Still working on finding a feasable frame mounted front recovery point. Mike spent some time under rover looking at possible solutions.

I did post new profile pic when I uploaded elephand pic. You can click on my name and you will see it -- just ignore the pink shackle on the front (it will NOT work as recovery point -- I was amusing myself by hanging it there at the same time I was playing elephants!)

I think I can finally check off my cargo flooring as done! :-) Here is pic of my work completed yesterday:

Jamie,
Truck looks sweet! Is it me or is the butt sagging a little though? Regardless, awesome to see another DII owner doing what was meant to be done to their truck. Makes me wish I was still back in Central Florida, not much wheeling going on here in northeast Ohio...
