I was doing my new springs and shocks this weekend and the driver's side rear, top shock post broke the nut was so rusted that the threaded part actually broke in half. I was able to unbolt it from the frame in order to replace it but don't know where I should go for it. Any ideas? Any idea how much?? |

Not uncommon. You can pick up an extractor from Sears, or any shop can do the job. Soak the thing for a day or so first with penitrating oil. (I hope you did from the start) ...good luck Carl |

Get a used one from a junk yard. It's not one of those parts that matters if it is used or not. Try calling Robert at Roverland (in Tampa, FL) at 813-269-2220. His prices are very reasonable. Thanks, Mike B. |

The upgraded shock mounts lower the upper mount around two inches. Just so you understand why you want to upgrade the shock mounts. |

Mine did the same, but since a welder was handy, I just cut the old bolt off clean, then got a nice heavy grade bolt, cut the head off and welded the new treads to the mount.....cost 5 minutes work. Overall job (since I was driving 3 hours away in less than 4 hours) Priceless |

the rovertym mounts do relocate but i would not call it an upgrade. the land rover ones are of wonderful quality and craftsmanship. my '89 range rover mounts still look new and i live in an area where rust and winter snow salt are serious. go with stock if you have the choice. rd |

I agree with RD.Go stock as much as you can.Yes there are so many way's to set a Land Rover but not all of them are the proper way to acheave 1,2,or 3 inches in height. Remember....the truck thats driven the most in Africa,Saudi,N.America,N.& S.America is a Stock Land Rover.Well as close to stock as much as possible. When you live in a third world some times you have to improvise when it comes to parts and working on a 4x4 out in the middle of a rain forest or a desert. You make due... Thanks. awi. |
