I was looking on e-bay and came across someone selliing as set of aftermarket headers for the 3.5 Land Rover engine.

The company that made them was Jan Speed (www.janspeed.com)

I checked their site and found that they have several other models availible, specifically they had one for my '95 Disco. The price is around $325 plus shipping from the UK.

Are their any US sources for these headers?

Any engineer types can explaine to me why car manufacturers use those big, heavy cast iron manifords rather than headers?

For a '96 discovery 1se depending upon the manifold #'s it's $363.00 rounded off before shipping and again it depends upon the manifold number but they have got a header for all the Land Rovers. Thanks for the link Mike. That one really helped me out!

You can buy them in Australia. I think HM headers and Pacemaker make them try searching for both on web. I found a link below that may help.

Did you order a set for your truck?

If so, let me know how the service and shipping works out, and what your final cost ends up being.

Janspeed is a company with a great reputation and long history....at least 30 years of making cars go faster.

I am in contact with RPI in England finalizing a complete exhaust system for my '95 Disco. They have an in-house designed SS full system: headers (with lamba boss), Y-pipe(no cats), and large bore single exhaust with muffler. Total cost for the SS system, new manifold studs and shipping should be about $900.00. Way less than any SS system available from the states and shipping will take 5-6 working days. Of course, there will be additional cost when I have cats installed. I will post an update when I get final pricing.

Mike,

I have installed a full Janspeed system (ie. manifold plus big bore exhaust) on my D1. The quality of such manifolds are poor and you need to do some work on it before putting on to the V8. Also, you will get lots of problems after installed the the full system (ie. emission, reset of timing, different tuned resistor, back pressure from Y-pipe, etc).

If you are not in a position of good mechanic, try the RPI or Rimmers bros full system instead !.

What are the overall gains in HP for these kits? Is 10-15 HP worth $1000? For that money, why don't you get into the guts of the engine?
Curiously awaiting resluts,

$1000 us seems a bit steep, I think the Australian made HM headers would be about $500 aud so that would be $350 (us) on today exchange rate. A trip to the local exhaust shop should see a big bore sports system for another $250 aud. That leaves enough loot for a nice Camshaft from Tighecams, they some good grinds for rover engines
