Any tips on securing two cat seats in our 97 disco? One seat in the middle works great, but the shoulder harness points on the wheel wells seem too far forward to hold a seat on either side safely. Anyone dealt with this? Baby due any day...HELP!

Check out the Mighty-Tite seat tightener at Babiesrus.com. I have two of them and they are awesome. It simply tightens the belt and pulls the seat down nice and tight to where you can't move it. It's less than $20.

thanks for the info, but I think you misunderstand. It's not that I cant get them tight enough - it's that the shoulder harness mounting point is too far forward on the wheel well to give any tension... do i need a specific brand of car seat or am I just an idiot...
thanks

I've got mine in just fine. I've placed it in all three seats, and along with the Mighty-Tite, it's going nowhere.

I think I know what you mean though - it seems as if there would be no way to get good tension with the harness point being in front of the child seat. Once you buckle it down and pull out all of the slack, you can then add the Mighty-Tite and it will finish the job for you.

We were very concerned as well, and even drove for awhile thinking everything was OK - until I added the Mighty-Tite. This thing is unbeleivable when it comes to keeping a child safety seat in place.

Sincerely,

Kenny

we have #2 on the way (in a few days).
we use Britax seats and haven't run into any fit issues. not sure which seat you are using though.
i've also use the mighty-tite with other seats and it worked well.
but in my opinion, Britax seats are the best.

Might I suggest the car seat in the middle of the car with the center lap belt. the belt can be tightened down, and the baby is protected with extra space, that is not afforded with placing the seat to one side....
my 2 cents

Need to fit two seats, but I added some tie downs behind the seat in the cargo area and used the latch belt system that comes standard now... not moving an inch, very secure. Britax seats would be cool, but we already are committed to a different brand/system. Oh well...
thanks for the help!

ITs infuriating that LR cannot fit seat belts that secure car seats without supplementary clips etc. Volvo can. Ford Focus can but Land Rover NOoooo
Thankful that I am now out of that phase of my life
Hint to those who are, roll the front seats forward and put your knee and body weight into the child seat while tightening the seat belt.
