Hi Guys, I just got a job that's going to involve a lot of deep snow driving with my stock '96 D1 this winter. I went to my local Tire dealer (Les Schwab) and enquired about studded snow tires and rims. They said a 'Wild Country TXR' with studs is a good tire, but drew a blank on rims. Will rims off anything else fit? My local wrecker has a set of 5 RR 3-spoke rims for $300 but I'd rather have Disco rims on. Has anyone used the aforementioned tires in deep snow? Cheers, Paul.

Anyone? What is a fair price for a set of 4 used Disco 1 rims? How do RR rims look on a Disco? Cheers, Paul. |

Why you want to change rims anyway? Just make them swap tires without disposal of old ones. And if you heading into deep snow - look for decent M/T tires, snowchains, winch, lockers. As of rims - look around - you can get NATO style rims that fits for like 60$/wheel |

Hi Guys, I want seperate rims so I can change them when I want- and save waiting all day at the tire place to get them changed. Plus I hear it's hard on tires to be mounted and un mounted. I'm getting snow chains too- ice breakers for the front, heavy duty for the rear. Where do I find ex-NATO rims? Cheers, Paul. |

try DAP enterprises in vermont. they have a few styles for steel wheels and are great to deal with. http://www.dap-inc.com/homeframe.htm otherwise your local junk yard might do better. |
