ok....2 times last week when i drove to work the speedometer on my 98 disco diddnt work until the engine temperature reached normal. Everyday other than those two it worked fine because i let it warm up before i drove it. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. thx dave |

Strangely enough, check your alternator and voltage regulator. Do a search on 'speedo' in the Message Archives and you'll see several folks have had this happen. If this is your problem, get a rebuilt piece as the dealer prices are typically unreasonable. |

it could be your vss if the truck starts reving weird when u let off the gas going down hill or cutting out on you from time to time when you accelerate that probably is it. mine started the same as you. the speedo just cutting out once in a while then the other problems started. the vss is the only thing that controls your speedo where as your tach is linked to your alternator. if you tach is ok then i would look at the vss. |
