either 16" steel wheels or a set of OE Land Rover wheels will do. If you are lifting the truck 2 inches, you can easily put a 265/75/16 with no rubbing. Anything taller than that, could result in rubbing. Any sort of All-Terrain should do just fine, and BGF's All-Terrain is very popular with people on the board. Hope this helps. -Luke p.s. click on my profile for a pic of 2" lift and 265/75 tires... p.p.s. I have a set of 16" LR rims for sale, very cheap too... |

I just fit 265/75/R16 BFG AT KOs this weekend (thanks to some springs I bought from Luke..THANKS LUKE!) I also have the 18" "racing slicks" but for the last two days I've been VERY happy with the 16",BFGs and mild lift. Carl |

Mark, I fit 255/70/16 Goodyear Wranger MT/Rs to my D2 with no lift. Most people with a lift tend to go with 265/75/16. (I've read Discoweb posts that several '03 D2 owners have fit 265/75/16 without having to trim or lift--dig back in the archives for the threads.) The 255/70/16 tire is sized such that the spare fits on the carrier without having to invert it. The weight of the tire rests slightly on the rear bumper which I think will help the hinges in the long run. I've experienced no rub even at flex. The MT/Rs are terrific in sand and mud. I find the on-road ride to be better than the stock 18" Wranger HP tires. As for road noise, there is a slight hum at highway speeds but I got used to it quickly. The traction differences are really worth it. I haven't tried the MT/Rs in the snow yet, but with any luck we'll get a few nice storms in NJ this year... -Eugene |

Mark, Since you already have the car in the air, the 255/70 is probably not the tire for you. You need something that will fill the wheel well like the 265/75/16 and that is pretty much the consensus you will get from DII owners with the 2" lift. Anything more and you could get rubbing, anything less and you are left with a lifted truck and regular tires. I think you should focus on what type of tires you will need, not worry about the size... -Luke p.s. Carl, you have to post pics of the truck with the lift and tires, and I'll drop you a note soon! |

I am also interested in them, but i guess im third in line and im cheap, so ill let them pass. If you only want an at tire, keep the 18's. Get nitto 285/60/18 at's or bfg 285/65/18 AT's. I have the bfg's and they are awesome. I am looking for 16's to put a set of 33 x 12.5 boggers on. The BFG AT's are as capable as the 255/70 MT's, if used with a locker and CDL. Eugene is also aware of this. my opinion is go with the biggest widest tire possible, especially if wheeling in the pine barrens where there are big ruts and water holes. Ground clearance is an issue in many places. -Rick |
