My disco runs a little rough, especially when accelerating, but also at idle. It seems to chug. I've run 3-4 different injector cleaners through the last couple of tanks of gas, but it still happening. My fuel economy hasn't gone down at all since buying it new in 99. I've read posts about cleaning the air intake, and was curious on how to do it. I don't have a shop manual, so I don't know what is what besides the air filter. I've seen the term plenum and Vacumu Tee used, but don't know what it is or how to clean it. Last night I took the air filter off and sprayed some injector cleaner through there, I'd been told there is possibly carbon build up somewhere in the air intake. When doing this the engine dies, like it is starving for air. Even when I just barely run my hand about an inch away from the intake screen after the filter, the engine almost dies. Is this normal? Thanks Dave |

Have you ever had the plugs or wires changed? If not that would my first guess. -Leo |

No its not normal. If you stick hand before mine you feel like hand nearly getting sucked in like in vacuum cleaner If you think its air stuff - disassemble intake lines, get all hooses off and clean them up. If it starves at idle - then stepper motor (IAC) and reglar air lines. If it starves at acceleration - check out tension on throttle cables + clean all the stuff....
