What do people find more convenient? I'm looking for a 100' extension, so either a galvanized cable or a made up 3" strap? Or something else? I know that the 40' cable I have is an real pain to role up. |

What exactly do you mean by a made up 3" strap? A good trick to coil up cable is to wrap it around a round block of wood then tie it or bungy cord it. If the cable is not to stiff then it's relatively easy to coil freehand as well. I'm an old logger so I know lots of cable tricks, including slip knots and various ways to fasten/join cables without hooks or eyes when it breaks. I can also show you how to have the equivilant of 7.5 block purchase with only 2 blocks (sheaves) if you ever need to pull something really heavy (or really stuck) with something light. cheers |

Dean - how about one of the masterpull extensions - strong, light, safe, and easy to store. Bill |

Do not use a recovery type strap with your winch cable. The stretch (from the strap) makes an already dangerous process (winching) even more dangerous. Only use an extension designed for the purpose. |

Bill, yeah I didn't realize they were quite reasonably priced. And they can make any length too, which is nice. Thanks. Dean |
