I have been searching and found 3 types of springs 1)OME,2)RoverTymeEng.,3)Blue monster. What would I need to do a 2" lift and what is the best way to go? I had a Jeep at 4.5" lift and road like a lumber wagon. Yes I did search but found nothing to answer my questions. I will be pulling my 19' boat so I was thinking Blue monster because of the 400lb. spring rate. Thanks

Best being an opinionary statement, you are going to get a lot of various responses.

Personally on my '97 Disco I went with OME HD front and Rear with Bilstein shocks and an new OME steering stabilizer.

My Disco is my Daily Driver and Primary vehicle. So I wanted a nice solid ride that handled well. I am completely happy with the results. I pull a 20 foot trailer every so often, with no issues and if it wasn't for one bad tire (bounces) I wouldn't hardly no it was back there.

I looked at the blue monster springs as well prior to my lift, I didn't go with them because unless I wanted to order everything seperate the people I talked to about them didn't have Bilsteins and they didn't match the springs to ensure that my Disco would not lean.

EE and Great Basin Rovers are the only two that I found that would match springs. EE was out of stock when I ordered, so I went with Great Basin.

Scott I have been looking a lot as well. I am leaning toward OME for the same reason Joey went with them. Now I just need to find the time to do the work.

You also might look for Green Monsters (400lb rated too) (northwestparts.com), except looks like they are slightly lagged in production at the moment, which should be resolving pretty much right now (i spoke with them two days ago on the phone).

for 2" you dont need pretty much anything apart for springs, but you might want to upgrade shocks at same time. Then if you getting vibrations - shafts upgrade, control arms upgrade... Can of worms it is :-)

I went with HD OME springs and shocks from EE. Huge improvement. Like joey, mine is also a 97 DD

How is the ride with the heavy OME springs? I am planning on getting a bull bar and a winch, but not right now. I want the heavy springs for the additional weight but it might be a while before I can afford to add the additional weight. Since my wife drives the disco more than me, I really don't want too many complaints about the springs.

How much lift do you get from the OME HD springs? On one site they got 1.5"fr. 2"rr. I am thinking the blue monsters 2"-3" because of the 400# rate. Does any one know how they ride? If I went with 3" what affects are there on the castor, I know Jeeps are very picky about this and I do not want to go that road again. I do not want to bouce down the road either. Any way thanks again.

I've been using the RoverTym Engineering 2" lift springs for about two years now with no sag and no problems. Installation was relatively straight-forward and they've performed admirably on road and off with bumper (no winch yet), sliders, rack and tons of gear inside.

2" RTE from RoverTym
Bilstein HD shocks from Trevor at TMS
1995 Disco1

The ride with the HD OME springs and shocks is firmer than stock, but not rock hard like the Jeeps I owned before I bought my Disco. IMHO it rides nicer than stock. I (still) have the stock front bumper (with the fog lights and air dam removed).

I got about a 2" lift F/R with the lift.

That is pretty much the consensus from everyone I have asked. I know that OME makes a quality product, that is probably the way I will go. Thanks for the info.
