Any recommendation on buying spark plug wires? I can’t find them anywhere. NAPA doesn’t have them, as well as, Lappens, Pep Boys, etc etc. So I guess I have to buy them on line. Does it really matter if I change the wires when I put in new plugs?

USE GENUINE...or magnecor. I have seen some nasty looking stuff on some of the aftermarket options.

Hi Erik-

I just installed a generic set of Napa wires, for a Ford V8, on my 95 because I had to- am up in the mountains, and the genuine L/R ones- about 3-4 years old, color blue, from the dealer, came apart in my hands- real junk.... take a plug wire out and take it to a parts store so that you can be sure to match the plug ends.... all of the wires were long enough except one, and I swapped the ends off one of the new coil wires, and made it work- all for $30-

good luck-

Tim

I just bought a set of Magnecor KV85 wires from:

http://www.apexperformance.net/magnecor_wires.htm

They don't list them for Land Rover or keep them in stock but the wires were dropped shipped from Magnecor within about a week. The price was right and the service was very good.

Hi-

what is the price for the Magnecor wires, out of curiosity?

we are talking about an aluminum block Buick V8 here.... I'm up in the mountains of eastern Arizona, elevation 8100", population 200, and my local mechanic, friend, garage owner, race engine builder, who is also a Napa guy because their parts delivery/warranty is so good, said that after examining the genuine L/R wires that literally fell/cracked apart in my hands, that his $30 set as posted above by me, were as good or better quality than the genuine parts....... he also had a better set, that I would have had to wait 'til Monday for the order to come in, as this was Saturday afternoon, for about $70.......

I have a set of 7mm Magnecor that I have not been able to get on my D2. I purchased them about 3 months ago. They are still in the box. I paid $75 for them online. I know this isn't the classified section of the board but does anybody want to make me an offer?

Ditto regarding the Magnecor wires. I have 8mm in my 96 D1. I got mine from Rover Connection www.roverconnection.com. $67, definitely worth it.

I agree with Tim, the engine is essentially a early 60s Buick. I replaced mine with a set for a Skylark at Autozone (they would have to order the ones for LR). The wires fit perfectly except for the coil wire which they exchanged for free with a longer one. I guess the Buicks had the coil mointed on the manifold. The wires work flawlessly and carry a lifetime warranty, and cost less than half of what the same brand cost for a set to fit LR. Why waste your money on OEM wires? Wires are wires and they all wear out eventually anyway. Just my 2 scents worth.

If you are looking to replace wires on a D2 beware! The back two cylinders are extremely difficult to get to and will require a few extra hours and some dismantling to reach them. Magnacore sells the Rover stuff strictly thru www.roverconnections.com and one or other of those sites lists the warning about the back two cylinders, I just can't remember which it was.
