Fellow Rovers, I have had a slow to respond driver door lock for about sixth months. I took the rig to Dallas Land Rover for the typical 37500 maintenance schedule. At this time they also replaced the idler tensioner pulley because of a grinding racket. She sounds GREAT, now. I would highly recommend this idler tensioner pulley replacement to anyone who hears grinding or scratching coming from the passenger side of the engine. But, they would not touch the door lock, because "if it isn't broken, we can't fix it". So, what can I do to repair or break it so they can fix it. Could it just be the door lock actuator? I have a feeling it will break when the truck runs out of warranty. Thanks, Gerry |

It is broken inside, that's BS. Some say it will last... just replaced mine...$200 part at the dealer or Atlantic British. It's robbery, but I don't want to worry about the car not locking, etc. W2 99D1 |

FWIW - there is one for sale in the Classifieds, from a '97. I didn't want to buy a part that was older than mine! I take it yours is an '02 DII? |

Not sure about D2 cars but for D1 I just buy an aftermarket kitt of 4 units from Brisbane car sound here in oz for $40 and retro fit them. Maybe you should check if you can get generic units in the US that fit. The ones I use have the same mounting points and they just fit straight in, the wiring connector is different. |

Ive done the same, generic, VDO, Bosch Chinese, all fit straight in. Get the high torque ones if you can to overcome stifness in lock. Try oiling the lock mechanism on the door 1st. Bazzle |
