I tried a search, didn't find anything. Its time for me to get new shocks for my 2000 D2. I need a good heavy duty shock and OME is the best IMHO but I think I remember reading about a year or so ago that a stock SLS D2 can't accept the OME shocks in stock form because you can stretch out the bags and damage them. I will be doing a lift when my budget and time allows me, and I want the OME setup. My question is, can I run the OME shocks for the time being with SLS until I get the springs or should I just wait to get shocks and springs together? I need the shocks soon though. I use my truck off-road for work and play, so I probably will damage the bags if the shocks allow the bags to stretch out. I also know that the OME shocks are 1 inch longer. Thanks for the help!

Unless I am wrong, the shocks do not limit the travel of the rear end. The sway bar will limit the travel.

Of course I have been wrong before, twice today already.

Pete,
I think the longer shock might limit the uptravel in the unlifted form. Not quite sure, but it's a thought. Honestly, since you have SLS in the rear, but the shocks on, monkey with the SLS sensor, lift the rear, and spend the extra 150 for the front shocks as well as the springs you originally wanted for the front. Save you time and effort, lift it all at once and get it out of the way.

Luke - I am running SLS with OME HD shocks in the rear and OME shocks and HD springs up front without any difficulties. I fooled with the sensor in the rear but did not lift up the SLS with any spacers. This has worked well for me both on road and off. Good luck.

Jay, are you still able to raise up the rear from the dash or does that over extend the airbags?

Jason,
I have the same set up as you...

Bill,
Yes, you can still put the ass end up another 1-1.5 inches or so on my rig...

I am just worried about the front driveshaft with a lift, this gets me worried and I don't have the $$$ at the moment to get a Tom Woods shaft, the lift will hurt the stock shaft and I do beat the shit outta my truck, extremely heavy loads at times, etc. If I were to get two greaseable U joints from GBR would this get rid of the problem, no, but how long will the front shaft last with a OME MD lift. The MDs are not much of a lift as compared to HD, I have the Saudi Bumper (Trek Bumper), LR brushgaurd, and two Hella 4000s, this is not much wieght and I probably will never get a winch bumper or winch. My tires are BFG ATs 255/70/ R16, I think these will look a little small and I got them about 10K ago, so I really don't feel like shelling out more $$$ for new tires that are slighly larger such as the 265s. Am I a cheap basterd you ask? Just a little!

Bill - At first I was worried about lifting the back end but after I tried it once I was quite relieved to find my airbags still intact LOL. Since then I have had no problems. In fact, every time I swap out my rims for the offroad rims I end up lifting and deflating the bags to level out the rear. No worries. I wouldn't advise too much trail riding with the ass end up but that might just be my paranoia.

Pete, doesn't the dII have a double carden driveshaft? If so, you won't have any problems with the added lift.

Jaime, the only problem people have had is with the DC joint failing due to the non-greasable U-Joints. This is an easy fix and will fail lifted or not.

As for the SLS/OME combo... yes... stock it will work and you WILL pull on the rear bottom of the SLS bag with the OME shocks if you're fully articulated. It's not a good setup without the SLS spacers but in a pinch might be okay for short term.
