My Disco is stranded at the gas station! Got in to crank it and nothing. Won't jump start--headlights work,Could it bethe Alternator or starterand if so are these easy to replace? Thanks |

Probably starter or starter solenoid. Could also be as simple as a bad chassis ground. Could still be a bad battery if it is too discharged to take a jump in which case the battery or alternator is bad. Try jumping it directly without having the cables connected to your battery at all. Try jumping the solenoid by crossing the small terminal to the + battery terminal with a screwdriver. Warning - it will spark! If it kicks the starter over, then it could be in the wiring from switch to solenoid or a ground problem - if not then solenoid or starter is probably dead. Bill |

There have been instances where Land Rovers won't start near ATMs or some petrol stations, apparently there's some electronic interference that messes with the alarm or imobiliser. B fore you take anything apart, try pushing it a few dozen yards down the road and try it. |
