I have obtained a replacement auto-dip rear view mirror as suggested on the board a while ago; how do I get the old one off without breaking anything? It looks like there is a clip arrangement between the mirror mount and the plate stuck to the windscreen. Does this slide in some way, or just pull/snap off? Thanks for any help! Mandotim

Give me a fax number and I will fax you the page off the shop manual. It is pretty easy.

Ken- Can you e-mail me the procedures as well? I am anticipating the manufacturer will send me a replacement rearview mirror due to the factory defect. A couple of months ago, I read a thread regarding this issue. The manufacturer (Magna..something) will replace them, they just want the defected mirror back. Just be polite when you request one.

Raymond the mirror you had was the auto-dim that came standard with your Rover? I have had two rear view mirrors that failed and leaked black goop onto the dash. Is there a time amount or cost for replacement?

Time Amount: Not that anyone's mentioned
Cost: Shipping the old one back to Holland, Michigan

Push down (toward the dashboard/windshield junction) REAL hard, and it'll come off.

Archives have the procedure, but here's the nutshell version:

If you take the large plastic cubby/center console (the thing with the sunroof buttons and dome light on it) off, and disconnect all wiring, you can see the wiring harness for the rear view mirror attached to the ECU for the sunroof. Remove, reattach, and refit, and it's good as new.

:-)

Dean, I forgot the name of the manufacturer, I will try to search through the archives and I suggest you do too. The manufacturer's name is Magna or Magnum...something. Whe I spoke to their customer service rep. they told me that they are ordering the replacement mirrors and will send to those who promise to return the old one back. They anticipate some time mid-Nov.

Go to the website, their customer service email is on there. Include all the info you can (name, address, phone, email, year/model) and they'll get in touch with you...

Thinks Raymond, what I do not understand why hasnt this company notifed Land Rover with this problem? Land Rover should be shot for letting their parts people trying to sell another mirror for around three hundred dollars. Thanks all for the assistance.

Dean, who's to say they haven't notified Land Rover?

It's not killing people or causing accidents -- it's pretty much a cosmetic defect...

Just saying -- this could well be something Rover is aware of and hasn't done anything about.

I got an e-mail from Lisa 9/2 saying the mirror should arrive in 6 to 8 weeks. That's probably typical lead time.

I got this e-mail from Lisa on 9/2, still waiting for mine:

I would be happy to send you a replacement mirror. I am currently
awaiting a new shipment of mirrors from our Ireland facility and expect
them in about 6-8 weeks.

In the box will be a letter indicating where the replacement should be
sent.

Please provide a shipping address for your mirror.

Technical question with RAVE. How in the world can I copy an image from Acrobat and send this to the company?
Yes I know, fax it, but besides that????
Yup, they want a picture of the multiplug, base mount and the mirror itself, all contained in RAVE, but I can't copy it...
What software am I missing?

I don't have RAVE, but, worst case, you could simply bring up the image on your screen and hit the print screen button. Then, go to another application, like MS Word or Paint and click on Paste. You'll get the entire screenshot. Be sure to zoom in first..

If you want to cut down a bit on crop time, if you do Alt-PrntScrn only the current "window" will be copied to the clipboard.

Then like Bruce said, just fire up Paint, Ctrl-V to paste, and then Ctrl-S to save.

Or you can use your mouse and navigate them pull-down menus to do the pasting/saving thing!
