PLEASE HELP I have a 99 Disco1 and something is wrong with it. This is what happens: When sitting at a stop light or just in park when the truck is on, the engine revs up to about 1100 to 1500 rpms. The rpm gauge just dances up and down. It also does it periodically when driving down the road, but when it does it driving down the road it always drops in rpm...never increases as it does when in park. PLease help me, LR of charlotte couldnt.

Dave, This is a common problem with the Disco. I had the same thing going on with mine a while back and got answers here on BB. The problem is in the air mixture valve located at the back of the intake plenum. It apparantly gets gummed up or clogged and this causes the computer to search for an idle speed. The valve is also known as a "stepper valve" and a few other four letter names not appropriate to recite. Just remove the valve and clean it carefully with parts cleaner and replace it. That should slove the problem. Gary |
