Hey guys

Just wanted to look before I leaped. Over here in Oz (thats Australia for the not so informed), ARB are marketing Magnum Winches at very cheap prices (eg: Warn 9k: AUD$2.1k; Magnum 9k: AUD$1300).

Now, a mate of mine (who works for ARB) reckons they are just surplus Warn winches (old series 9k), painted black and marketed as "Magnums" (with full 2 year warrenty from ARB, Aust. as well).

I just wanted to check with my Disco Brothers in the States if they have any insight/info into this, and whether or not I am getting a Warn in dark sheeps clothing or just a bad rip-off.

Now, I trust my mate, and I have more than just in faith in ARB (I wouldn't be truely Australian if I didn't), but I am very skeptic of everything that seems to good to be true.

Any insight or comments would b appreciated.

cheers

gtt

PS: good luck to everybody in the Rugby World Cup - no being played in Australia.

greg,

milemarker here in the states is now selling electrric winches of suspicious quality. mile marker used to have a good name in my book if you wanted hydralic winch.

these electric winches they are now selling seem really cheap in the pictures, but i have not seen on in person.

could be a similar brand. i think they are black.

search ebay they have the electric mile markers on there.

KEW 8000 lb winch looks identical to the warn winch. i broke mine after using it four times. i took it back and it was replaced, so i now always use a snatch block, no problems yet. i paid 550.00 bucks for it bran new. its made in china. my words to you stick with the brand name winch on this one. especially if your in the out back and you bust it. weeks from any where. and if your really into it find a pto driven winch fro a foward controll. that would be ultimate set up.
