Ok my darn rover again (Do we all say this??)!! Ok my check engine code came out to be a Fault 12 (Air Flow Meter), so going to go to junk yard to pick up another one.... However for months now.. I have a slow starting rover!! I had all types of work done of the car (Replaced Starter, Fuel Pump, Head Gaskets Recently Done). When the Head Gaskets where done the guy everything was correct with fuel rail and no injector leaks... He didnt have time to fix the starting problem on that trip and I decided to try to fix it myself.. (Thats how the new starter, and fuel pump got in the equation). Both didnt work to fix the starting problem... When I finally do get the car started after mashing completly down on the gas and letting it crank for about 5-10 secounds.. i get a rough choppy start... and a ton of white smoke out the back (Especially in the morning).. and the car smells like carbonation or something when it starts up.. really stinks. ideas guys?? Usually when I turn off car and startup again it starts quickly... but if i let it sit for a few minutes I get another slow choppy start....

Thanks,
Rpet

I currently have the same issue, still unresolved only to lack of time to work on it.

I was told it is fuel pump/pressure related, this was from a LR Tech. I am not sure of the validity but it is worth looking into.

If you find anything else let me know.

Try a fuel rail pressure test to determine if your system is holding pressure when the motor is shut down. Most garages can do this at little cost. You could be losing pressure through the relief valve or bleeding back through the pump. Have you changed your fuel filter yet? Also try cleaning the terminals on the harness that connects to your air-flow meter. This is also a common cause for stalling at idle. Hope it helps.

If I were you I would re-check the fuel injectors, its easy just time consuming. Remove everything on top of the fuel rail, the plenum chambers can be moved to one side without disconnecting the throttle body, just the cruise control pump. Pull the fuel rail out and put the ignition in "On" postion, DO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR. Once the engine is on you can actually see if you have a bad injector, they will leak. I had the same problem on my 95 Disco and found that this was my problem. Also if your not having problems when the car is on the road like hesitation or stalls than I would not think is fuel related. Also change your spark plugs, its cheap and good for your car.
