Can someone give me idea how to pull the air dam off a 1998 Disco. Is it possible to use the wiring from the stock air dam lights to wire some hella 550's on a brush bar??? (Im not sure how to remove/attach the wiring on the front and side lights in the stock air dam)

undo the screws on the central section, remove.
Metal snips or similar to cut the end caps to size leaving the light in place. Simply unplug the fog light wires.
Brush guard might look silly with out the air dam, I suggest you bolt the lights to the bumper.

There are like 6 phillips screws holding the dam on; remove those, then remove the phillips screws which secure the foglight brackets. Hang them out of the way or snip the wires - you can reuse the wiring for other fogs.

Danno told me to use a utility knife to cut the bumper endcaps. With a new sharp blade, this was effortless - cut them straight with one of the contour lines in about 2 minutes.

Thanks for the help on the air dam removal.
Can I simply plug the wiring from the stock fog lights into my hella 550's and use the stock dash buton to activate them???

you'll have to splice the wires together.

Matt:

We used the wiring from the stock lights to power a relay that powers the Hellas. I’m not sure if the factory wiring is beefy enough to run the Hellas alone, but using the existing wiring to power the Hella relay is your answer… that way you can use your existing switch to turn the lights on and off.

I drew you a picture with Microsoft paint. It looks like complete hell (no time this morning to make it fancy), but I think it will help illustrate my point. It’s here: http://www.houstonlandroverclub.com/discoweb/foglight_wiring.html

Obviously you’ll need to ground everything… I did not show the ground wires in my 3 second drawing.

Hope this helps… I’m off to breakfast.

Has anyone tried to make metal end caps? I'm thinking of trying this.

Metal end caps would be nice. Id actually like to have metal end caps in the rear too.
It only took me 15 min to remove the old air dam and 10 min to saw the ends down. I then rewired the hellas using the stock button on the dash.
Looks great!!!
