I have a '95 Discovey ES that intermittently quits running while I'm driving. The engine will just quit when I'm coming up on a stop or in a turn and I have my foot engaged on the clutch. This happens especially in the morning when the engine is cold. It will stop twice and then run. I've taken it to a Land Rover shop and they've replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump suspecting these were the cause; however, upon getting the vehicle back...the vehicle still quit on us. Please help!!!!

go back to shop and get yer money back for unneeded service then :-)

and thats where "search" function of forum comes handy, man.

It can be caused by few things out of which fuel pump is nearly last and most expensive.
- vacuum leaks (need to check all air hooses around)
- clogged air intake/filter (engine chokes without air)
- lots of crap in engine (i.e use injector cleaner stuff - BG44K would do miracles)
- VSS snuffed it, and you need new one
- clogged fuel filter (wont let normal fuel to flow properly)
- dirty IAC (stepper motor)

and very last - fuel pump :-)

For my 94 it took to clean up all air hooses and vacuum thingy that leads from throttle to whatever vacuum pump is hidden next to headlamp on driver side (US). Then clean up stepper motor - and never got dying engine for past month (and i am running lots of tests on it, as vehicle still in works)

I would be checking the base idle and stepper motor.

Gents thanks for your inputs...I'll be taking this info to my mechanic. Hopefully, this will resolve this problem.
