I just bought my first disco the otherday.. it has 167k miles but i got it for 3500 so i expect problems.. I hear a clicking when i make a hard left turn and a rubbing/grinding noise when i make a hard right. does this always mean that my cv joints are going? the guy who owns it before me wasnt just had old man emu springs and billinstein shocks put on. what usually happens if I drive untill they are gone? and does anyone know about how much i will pay to replace them if I instll it myself? |

yes CV's sound bad if you wait till they fail complete you may need to replace the swivel ball as well because the broken components from the failed CV can become lodged between the CV and the swivel housing causing damage hit the bone yards and save some $ |

They may not be shot yet. Drain the swivel balls and replace the oil. See if they are still clicking. It may be that the oil is low. Look at the oil as it comes out. Should be black and not brown. If it still clicks you will have to replace the cv. Get sombody on the outside to listen for which on is clicking. The swivel ball seals are a weak point of the disco you should replace them anyway. I have a cv joint if you need one. |
