I just bought a 94 disco with 167k. I got it from a guy who just got a divorce and he let it go for 3500 instead of his original asking price of 5500... he put on a 2" inch lift with old man emu springs and billinstein shocks. he also added the trek outfitters rear bumber. It runs great but has a few problems.. it has a slow oil leak from the oilpan or rear main.. has anyone replaced these? is this a common problem? also the check engine light is on, I looked at the digital readout under the passenger seat and it is not lit up? how do i make it send the error codes? it also has a small tick or knock from the bottom end when idleing .. he said that it was a normal problem caused buy a rubber part or bushing in the bottomend wearing out and did not need to be replaced. can anyone offer any feedback on this? Also does anyone know what i might expect to get for the vehicle if i part it out? I might go that route if it appears to be a $3500 headache. Thanks for any replies in advace.

Oil pan & rear main leak are very common. Ticks are also common (but without actually hearing it, it's hard to tell if it is serious or not). Man, I wouldn't part out a Disco that's still running!

Just think Jeremey, if its leaking
A) Its not out of oil
B) It prohibits rust in that area
c) you mark your territory so other rovers know you were there.

don't part it out, have fun with and part it out later when it really dies.
