I think it is the lifters, you can hear it over each of the front wheels when you put your ear there. Only has 13K miles??? Thanks for the input. -Jim |

Is it on a hot or cold engine? Oil changed regularly? I would think ancillaries with that mileage. I had the bearings in an a/c compressor fail (in an Isuzu Trooper) at about the same mileage. It rattled with a knock sound noticeably at idle. Since its still under warranty just take it in. They'll find it. Don't leave it for long. |

Check this site out: http://www.robisonservice.com/servicedep/rover_advice1.asp From their website: Weaknesses to watch for in looking at a used Disco II Disco II engines are prone to failure of the rocker shafts, resulting in engine raps. Luckily repair is not too costly.

Out of curiosity, what does this noise sound like? My 03 seems to tick a bit when idling sometimes, but I always thought it was normal. |

June, it is very loud but only after it has been driven and I get out while running it seems excessively loud over the front tire. It is lifter noise//knocking.. hard to put word to it. -Jim |
