Having driven my Disco over 160K miles, I am all too use to driving around with the ABS and Check Engine lights on. The ABS light is on because I removed the ABS fuse, and the Check Engine light has been on so long I am surprised it hasn't burned out itself. I want to snip the wires to these bulbs and was looking for info on accessing them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Ray

Check under the passenger seat for a little box with a red two digit numerical display. This will give you a number that is the error causing the Check Engine light. You can find out what the fault codes are in the tech section. As far as the ABS-good luck, mine has been on for 30K!!! |

Depends on the year -- I think the two-digit code box went out after 95 when the switch was made to GEMS... What year is your truck, Ray? |

Ray - instead of cutting anything - pull the bulbs. Pull of the instrument binacle (2 screws and 2 tabs) and then you have access to the gauge cluster. Bill |

Thanks for the info. The truck is a 96 and I really don't care why the light is on. I have had it checked and reset so many times. Most often no real problems were detected. Probably ran over a bad buritto. I think removing the bulbs is the best idea. Anyone know where the screws are located to remove the binacle? Ray |

Gentlemen, I've read the post on ABS fixes but I'd still like some clarification. On my '99D1 I just had the ABS light buring ON whilst driving. The dealer's suggestion was to do some diagnostic test for $100 and if there's anything wrong then replacing the ABS sensors would cost be around $1000 for the 4 tires. This is a worst case scenario. Is there anyway I can check these ABS sensors myself? I looked up the part at RoverNorth catalog. Seems like a tiny part on the wheel. I could replace this. But is this the right way to go to fix this issue. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
