 Hello all,
Here's a brief summary of what's going on. I replaced my front brake pads on my 99 Disco I with new Mintex brake pads a few weeks ago. When I slowly apply my breaks they squeek even louder that before I replaced them. However, when I push the breaks down hard and fast, not quite slamming them there is no sound. I'm hoping I get suggestions that can tell me what to do...short of replacing the break pads again. Anything would help at this point.

 Thanks in advance,
 Joe

My rear brakes have been squealing for 70,000 miles now. All OEM equipment. I've tried different pads, anti-squeal goop (that stuff is a joke), bevelling the leading edge of the pad, etc. I'll be upgrading rotors eventually, hope that solves it. How many miles on your front rotors?

 Hey Blue,
I have a total of 59k+ miles on my 99 Disco. But these break pads have no more than 1000 miles on them. Good luck with upgrading the rotors...think I'll have to do that??

sometimes all it takes is a shim behind the pad i am not sure for land rover because mine haven't squealed for more than a sec here and there but they sell shim pad kits for a lot of vehicles with this problem

Is it all the pads on the front and the back or is it just one wheel? I just changed the pads on my 98 disco because it was time. After I did this I have been having SQUEELING coming from my front passanger side pads. It turns out that its one of the pistons in my caliper sticking a bit. Im going to order news seals and pistons from DAP next week and rebuild my caliper. Seals are $13 per side and pistons are $64 per side. Cheers Nutter

I replaced pads front & rear with OEM about 5,000 miles ago. My rear brakes seem to be functioning fine (pistons), truck stops fine & straight, the rears just squeal like hell - always have with OEM or aftermarket pads. Squeal more when dusty from offroading. That annoying fingernail on the chalkboard shriek that lasts for about 5 feet just before you roll to a complete stop. I have 100,000 miles on the rear rotors, so I'm pretty sure they're out of spec by now. Might as well upgrade rotors all around (drilled & vented DBA) instead of replacing with OEM.
