Hi Folks, I bought a spare remote for my '96 D1 on Ebay, with the following instructions: 1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked, hood switch depressed 2. Carry out steps 3 to 9 within 8 seconds. 3. Switch ignition ON 4. Switch ignition OFF 5. Lock Doors 6. Unlock doors 7. Release Hood switch. 8. Switch ignition ON 9. Switch ignition OFF If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and LED will light. It is now possible to program 2 transmitters to the vehicle. This must be carried out within two minutes. 10. Press and hold down button on first transmitter until dash LED flashes. 11. Repeat step 10 for second remote. 12. The LED will extinguish if both transmitters have been initialised correctly. I tried all that- didn't work, I think because the alarm never went off. So I triggered the alarm by opening the pass. side door and tried the procedure from there. Nothing. What am I doing wrong? Cheers, Paul.

Aren't the 96 a 2 button remote? That only works if you have a one button remote. That might be why, but i could be wrong about the 2 button thing. |

I think you have got to go to the dealer to get that programed. It depends on your relationship with the dealer if they will charge you or not. I know mine wouldn't. |

Thanks Guys- I figured I'd have to take it to a LR dealer. How much do they charge? I wasn't sure which button I was supposed to be pressing. How much are they likely to charge me? Thanks, Paul. |

well mine told me $36 to get one done, I couldn't get my one button to work. I think the memory cleared. Then when i got to the dealership the guy knew it was me and did it for free. So I would say around $36 I would think. |
