Fellow Rovers, I read several times, on this message board, that individuals have 98 and 99 Diso I. I thought the Disco II replaced the Disco I in 1998. What gives, did Land Rover offer both Diso types for at least two years? Gerry |

Not 1998, 1999. The Discovery II was introduced in 1999. Also in 1999, you could get a Discovery SD, which unlike previous Series I SD models, it was a bit more loaded, with leather, heated seats, etc. They were essentially left-over 1998 Rovers, with the last of the the DI goodies thrown on 'em. -L

I have a 99 Series I sd. I just got it a month ago and was wondering about it. So was the SD the top of the line Series I in '99 or what? It's kind of hard to find info on them. Also does anyone know if they came with a factory cd player? Thanks a bunch. |

Not until 2004 was a cd player standard in Discovery. |

I think SD was typically the base model but like Leslie said, the 99 models are a bit more loaded. Mine's a 98 SD and has no sunroofs, no leather and manual seats. There aren't a lot of them this way. I think the LSE was the top end model for the D1s. |

Guys, DIIs did indeed replace DIs in 1998, however, NA only got that one year late for the model as a 1999. If you open any LROI, LRW, LRM, LRE, etc...you'd see 1998...but NAs got them in 1999. Confusing, true true. |

Actually... NA got them in the fall of 1998 but as 1999 models. |

Yes Al is right... I have a model year 99 SD that came over on the boat in 98. Like Leslie mentioned, it is loaded with everything including CD changer. -Steven |

Guys, Take a look at the previous two entry profiles. Steven has a 99 Disco I and Jamil has a 99 Disco II. Totally different body styles, but the same year. So, I conclude that LR used two different body molds for at least one year. Do we all agree? Gerry |
