Can someone please help me? I have an 89 RRC. The problem is it makes a noise like a timebomb that changes speed as I change speed. However it only does it at specific times. It's not something that goes away and comes back. When I am taking a long right hand corner it clicks or when the Rover sits at an angle to the left. It doesn't do it at slow speeds only when driving at some speed. I live in Vegas and when driving to Pahrump the left lane of the highway into Pahrump is at a slight angle, when I go into that lane the Rover leans to the left and the click begins, once back into the right lane where it is level the click stops. And when the corner is long the click happens. I have taken the dash out/off looked all over the interior, I have looked under the hood, I have looked under the Rover but have not yet found the reason for this. Apart from it being quite embarrassing because of its volume its frustrating because I don't know what to do to fix it. Any help at all would be great.

Sounds like a cv joint if it is a fast clicking. IF slow but loud could be suspension related. Need a little more info, but I would check those first.

I'm sure it's not the cv or suspension because the sound is coming from the dash. It sounds as if it's right behind the top cover. But as I'm no master mechanic I'm not sure.

It's not the speedo cable as it has been removed. The whole speedometer was not working when I bought it. And the tick sounds like something from an old cartoon you know the tick of a timebomb.

Nick: on a previous truck of mine, I had the same ticking sound from one of the front wheels: turned out to be a problem with the brake pads and the anti-squeal clips: the parts were wearing and moving a bit and the clips were sounding off. New pads and clips solved the problem.
FWIW, ymmv...

I had the same thing and it was an exhaust leak on the passenger side of the truck.

The only problem is I recently had the exhaust redone due to bodgy repairs by the previous owner.
