Hi all im contemplating a 00' RangeRover HSE. i think the stock size tires are 255/55/18's... i was contemplating changing tires to 16" rims... what are the various choices? what is the equivalent 16 tire and what would be a little taller/bigger??? also, what kind of rims could i put on a 00'??? are there D2 rims that are 16" that are a one to one swap out? thanks KEN |

Ken, I just bought a 97 RR 4.6 HSE and was considering the same thing. I believe the D2 16" rims and the 16" rims for the RR are the same (are interchangable). The equivalant size 16" tire is 255/65/16, which is stock on the D2. If this is wrong, someone correct me before I make a mistake buying rims!! Unfortunately there aren't a lot of choices from the quality tire manufacturers for the 18" rims. I know because I am putting new tires on as well. I bit the bullet and bought Michelin 4x4 Synchrones. It's my wife's truck so it wont be doing much off road until I get it. It appears you haven't bought the truck yet. We've had ours a week and love it. You should buy the truck (assuming everything checks out) if you haven't already! |

Lots of RR info here: http://www.rangerovers.net/rrtires.htm#mkii DII and P38 Rims are all the same, just choose the 16" style you like.

different question regarding RR and tires... Please correct me if im wrong but... 16 inch D2 wheels should be interchangable on a 00 RR. (correct offset and bolt pattern) I was thinking of mounting some 245/75/16 MT/R's (from my Disco) on some D2 rims and using them as my "off road" tires for a 00'RR. and i have two questions. 1. GY recomends a rim size of 6.5-7.5" for the 245's and the D2 rims are 8". will mounting 245's on a 8" rim be "crazy/un safe"???? its only a 1/2 difference. for a 10ply E rated tire i cant imagine that being "extream"... 2. is anyone else running 245/75/16's on 8"rims??? thanks
