Hey guys, my hood won't stay shut. The latch will catch, and that keeps it from flying up into the windshield, but the spring mechanism in the center won't catch (or whatever it is supposed to do). Can anyone provide a diagnosis? Possible fix?

That's catchy, Chris. I didn't see anything to adjust on the hood itself.

Adam, What type of disco do you have? Totally unrelated question as I have some pictures of someone's disco 2 from Killington 2002 event and the driver was named Adam. Just curious if it was you.

Adam, if it's a D2 you may have a broken release cable issue. Not an uncommon problem. The other possible is that it just needs to be lubed. The spring/catch mechanism can hang up at times. I've had both happen on my D2.

john. your best bet is to contact some of the young guys at www.pennstate4x4.com. they are pretty young and a bit rowdy i am sure, but they know the trails around here better than anyone.
most of the stuff in the immediate area of state college is all state land and not really legal.
i know the closest place is most likely KATO. if you want to find out more though i would join the email list and follow the group on a sunday outing. they seem very open to new members and tag alongs.
email me at garrett@tmmotors.com with more questions/comments.
thanks-

Adam, I've experienced this on my D1 a few times. My wife had a brilliant the idea the other night when I was getting angry with it. She pushed the hood release handle (under the dash) forward and it worked perfectly.

I've adjusted the locking mechanism forward of the radiator, it's just 2 10mm bolts to loosen. Also pull the 3 phillips screws holding the grill on and you can easily get to the underside. I jimmied it until it worked a few times in a row.

But make sure you push the handle all the way forward under the dash. Mine pulls fine but doesn't retract fully, which prevented it from closing properly.

Turned out to be what Joe was talking about; the lever just wasn't fully retracted.
