HI guys, got one of my shocks totally fubar (on my '97 300 TDI), about time I give 'em all a change. Thing is, which aftermarket shock will work better with my stock springs? they ain't sagging yet, so I'm keeping them, had everything checked out and all I need are shocks. I looked at atlantic british to see if I can get the billsteins shipped over ($300). What other options do I have? I was told if I wanted to go OME, it would be recommendable I do both shocks and springs, so I'm skipping that option for now, any more suggestions? Also I wanted to get the OME steering damper.. any comments on my current choices? please help.. just want to make sure I'm going with the wiser buy(s) here. Thanks in advance Joel |

They say it depends on where you do most of your driving. I realized that I would be doing 80% on road 20% off road, so I went with the Bilstiens, with a Land Rover heavy duty springs and I replaced the steering stabilizer with a Bilstien while I was at it. So far I love the set up. |

I have the OME steering damper. No problems so far and I like the way it feels over the stock one. |

cool.... so if I am like 90% road, 10% off road... I guess I could go with the billsteins right? what do you guys think of OME vs. the Billstein steering damper? |

Haven't tried the Bilstein Steering damper, but I know when I bought my new OME springs and Bilstein shocks the place I ordered from did not recommend the Bilstein steering damper.... He said I would be better off with the OME....I like mine, steering is nice a tight, almost new feeling. |

cool... thought so... actually the people that sell me parts down here also said the billstein damper kinda sucked... they said it was too tough and sort of pulled to one side too much. |
