Which do you guys use the Haynes manuals, which I have used on all my vehicles or the Discovery Shop manual. I am going to buy one but if the shop manual goes beyond my ability than I will go with the Haynes. What is your thoughts. Thanks

There's no comparison - the shop manual provides great detail and torque specs on everything. One repair and it's paid for. It will also help you do things that may be beyond your ability; or at least walk you through those jobs so you are an educated consumer when dealing with a shop.

Scott - i got Hayness and its ok for doing regular maintenance or a little bit of medium level stuff. For very complex things - there is no information at all. So if you got good imagination, and can keep up with analysis of what you getting at - Hayness is good. I am now thinking about getting workshop manual, as i am digging deeper and deeper into truck :-)

Example - differentials arent covered at all there. And i soon would need it :-)

The Haynes manual I got didn't cover my particular ignition system. I have a distribtor-less 96 but the book only covered the earlier ones with the distributor. I still like it. It's a good compliment to the Workshop manual.
