I have what sounds like a bottom-end knock or tick in my 94 dico.. i originally thought it was the engine knocking because I asked the guy i bought it from and he said that a land rover tech said it was most liekly some rubber bushing or part in the lower end that gets worn and just makes that noise .. he said it wouldnt harm anything and was kinda common.. after reading it does sound common for discos to tick.. but i have a stethascope and was poking around.. it definately isnt comming from the top end and i cant hear it in the oil pan.... when i listen to the passenger side catalitic converter it is the loudest so im 80-90% sure it comming from in there.. I just wanted to get some feedback from some people before i cut it open to see and then have to weld upside down to close it backup.. thats going to be a pain. If it is in there and i take out the baffles what would happen to my performance or fuel economy? would i still pass emissions? does anyone know what a catalitic converter costs? |
