I noticed my carpets were wet in the fornt. Both on the passenger side and drivers side, Where could this be coming from? I don't think its the heater as it's clear water( no coolant evident)I thought due to the heavy rain it might come in through the vents?? I don't think its from the airconditioning drain pipes as I cleared them some time back I pulled the carpet back and GASP!!!!! I notice I have a hole rusted in the passenger side floor pan and also another hole half way up the transmission tunnel. Is this common? Any help appreciated |

My car leaks ones in a while when its rainning hard and i'm running around 70mph, later found out that it was coming from somewhere on the roof, runs down the hidden left side of windshield (where the tweeter speakers are), and from there to the ground. Haven't exactly tracked it down where the leak is, but the big hint would be to check the sunroof and also where the roof rack mounts to the chassy. My 2 cents. -ram |

Thanks Ram, I don't have a sun roof. I checked the LR dealer bulletin about water ingress. LR states that water can ingress from the windscreen. The fix was to apply a secondary sealer under the top rubber. I used a butyl rubber compound and chaulked it there with a caulking gun. I pulled the wiper motor plastic trim and also chaulked the air intake and wiper motor bracket. Where the front fender/a pillar, firewall corner meets there is a junction where the panels are welded and covered with a sikaflex type compound. this was cracked and rusty. I cleaned it and treated it with rust converter and then reasealed it. Hopefully I've stopped the water ingress. |
