I was wondering if anyone has any aftermarket or after purchase warrantees on their Rovers and what they think about them. My warrantee on my Rover expired and I want to keep some type of insurance in the event of something major going wrong.

That guy didn't read the warranty. I don't know of any aftermarket warranty that covers water leaks, or car batteries, or rubber hoses. They don't cover wear items, squeaks or rattles, wind or water leaks, anything rubber, glass, trim. I don't know anything about Wynn's but from what I read, they did nothing wrong.

I looked further into it, and your right Alyssa I think the guy expected perishable components to be covered. For some reason, the bad business bureau website looks a bit shady itself, not very professional.

It also sounds like it was "over sold". No warranty that I'm aware of covers consumable items like hoses, brake pads etc.

Charlie: email me at andrew at thesharperauto.com, and I'll see if something is available. I'll need your year and in-service date.

I too am in the market for an extended warranty for my '00 DII and did a search of the Discoweb archives.

One company stood out because it is a subsidiary of Ford (owner LR Group) and has been around since 1984...Easy Care (www.easycare.com). Also, John Robison from Robison Service (Boston area)highly recommended it.

The website provides broad information but you have to e-mail them for quotes. I just e-mailed them a quote request this morning and will see if their rates are competitive (info@easycare.com).

Be very careful with these! They often have thing in them to make it where they don't have to pay. They will say you did something wrong.
The one I had trouble with, all maintanance had to be dealer done. This was with a Jeep and the factory ended up replacing an engine, but if they didn't, I would of had to pay because I changed my own oil and not the dealer. I broke their rules and it was my fault because I didn't read it close enough.
Please don't think i'm trying to steer you away from them, just be careful.

I need to add that I had to pay half of the engine cost. It was nice of Jeep to pick up the other half. A real bad knock started and it locked up. I was (am) friend with the dealership family and they backed me up on my stand that all maintanace was done. It was just out of waranty and the extended on should of worked (if I had read it!) And I bought it at the dealership. It didn't have any connection with Jeep, they just sold 'em to owners...

Hi Alyssa,
Yes, the DII is still under warranty (35k miles and the warranty ends in Feb '04). I just had the SLS compressor replaced after I noticed a bit of a nose-up attitude (okay for flying, but not for driving at night when folks think your brights are on! suggestions?...I just felt like the LR extendeds were pricey.

Thanks, Brad
