Hello,

we have 1993 RR LWB, and also I got a Mitchell ScanTool. Where/How should we connect laptop to on-board computer ? (where's the connection located)... and does anybody have a schematic of the cable itself ?

Thanks.

Engine trouble codes can be read from the display box under the passenger (right) seat. No tools required :-)

I don't own a scan tool myself. One reason why is because it's probably one of those things that you get what you pay for. Unless you work on engines for a living it is probably not worth having good setup. The good ones can record everything as you are driving down the road. Then you can play it back whenever the EFI trouble occurs, and it will pinpoint the trouble spot in the system.

The connection point is probably that white plug next to the readout under the passenger seat. There are about three wires going to it and they are connected the the ECU.

You should use the Electronic Trouble shooting Manual for your 94RR, and just check the readout box for trouble codes first.

Also if you can explain what the symptoms are in the EFI system fault, I can give you the most likely fixes.

Mike is correct. If you have a check engine light, check the black box under the passenger seat. Make sure the key is on and there will be a digital readout with the error code.

so, by connecting laptop I won't get anything more but just some data , that won't be very useful ?

Is there a way to check if that black box is working ? (right now it does not show anything)... b/c it seems like too much does not work in our Rangie :-( ... and we are not sure if they did not burn that black box or something
