I'd like to get a really good extraction point for my back end. Was going to buy LR receiver hitch and hardware for that but will like to upgrade rear bumper sooner rather than later. Have a 2002 DII. Any one tell me about safari gard rear bumper vs. the trek? Would like to increase departure angle but still be able to tow and be pulled out of a jam.

I ordered the Greg Davis Bumper and am having it installed on Wednesday. I did tons of research and found this option to be the best. Safari Gard is good, but too expensive and the trek bumper doesn't increase the departure angle, it's just stronger which is silly to me.

I just put up this photo gallery so my guy at the shop could see what it is before it arrives:

I am also going to cut off the resonator and route it through the rear left quarter panel like a few of the photos show. I have 4 2" circular lights 2 red and 2 amber that I am going to install in the bumper and then just use the preexisting wiring. It comes with a trailer hitch as you have you remove the LR one so I can still use my reciever shackel bracket. You could also get Jate rings as those mounts are now free from the LR hitch.

Hi Jamil and Clif - Thanks.
Was looking at the Davis bumper the other day and just saw the AEDO bumper link from the technical section thread. I don't have the LR hitch on my SD - was going to buy one (taking your earlier advice on extraction points first Jamil) but didn't want to buy twice since I know I want to get better departure angle. Yea, the SG is SWEET, pricey but sweet!

Is there a change in tow rating with the Davis bumper?

Characterized the D-angle increase yet?

I'm not the most handy (I'm a nuclear engineer so more theory than metal bending) let me know how installation goes.

Clif, do you have the aedo?
